An authentic French pitcher, or ‘cruche’, with handles and pouring spout. Originally a piece of utilitarian kitchenware, used for transporting and storing cold water, this wonderfully charming Provençal jug is half-glazed in the traditional way, and would have been buried in cool soil or sand to keep its contents cool.
